The Snowman™ & The Snowdog NT
Mobile App DevelopmentBased on Raymond Brigg’s much-loved animated film, North Tyneside Council, supported by North of Tyne Combined Authority, organised The Snowman™ and The Snowdog festive trail to raise money for St Oswald’s Hospice, while giving local families the challenge to find all 20 life-sized magical sculptures in and around the borough.
The Snowman™ & The Snowdog Trail App
The Brief
To support the trail, an app was needed to be accessible on all mobile devices, to raise awareness and engage all ages in finding the sculptures across the borough, with users keeping track of which ones they located, have fun, and at the same time raising funds for St Oswald’s Hospice.
The Solution
We worked closely with North Tyneside Council, partners Wild in Art, and Penguin Books, which owns the copyright to The Snowman™.
The app was developed to with the user experience at its core - accessible, easy to use, secure, and it also had to adhere to strict Penguin Books brand guidelines for the use of the imagery.
We designed and developed a native mobile app in Swift for iOS, and Kotlin for Android. The app features:
- geolocation technology
- geofence-triggered push notifications
- saves all data on-device for offline use and improved user privacy
