Nebula Labs is already off to a promising start to 2018, having been tipped to be one of the “most promising firms to watch out for” in the North East this year. In an article, published in The Journal‘s business section, Nebula Labs was featured alongside seventeen other firms in the area on track for further success in 2018. Our nomination was based on the work that we carried out in partnership with Plan Digital, a collaboration which resulted in the development of the critically acclaimed Newcastle Startup Week Mobile App. The Journal described Nebula Labs as having gotten off to a “storming start” and anticipates a “bright future” for the company.
Despite only having officially launched in August 2017, we have already managed to complete a wide range of highly successful mobile apps and web development projects. Our expert team have provided creative solutions to a wide array of problems faced by businesses across different sectors. For example we created Hugo, a unique chat bot designed to help connect party-goers of the North East with popular nightclubs. Users were able to find out which events were scheduled on any given night and obtain ‘guestlist’ entry to these events. On another project, in order to encourage networking at Newcastle Startup Week, we included a ‘heat map’, which highlighted the busiest parts of the event. This was very well received, especially at the evening events. Last year, we also experimented with artificial intelligence to help connect educators with suitable job listings using an ‘Uber-style’ matching algorithm. These are just a few examples of the innovative solutions our team have come up with to solve business problems in unique and inventive ways.
Our work received recognition across the North-East Tech/Digital Sector in 2017. Just two months after our official launch, Nebula Labs was nominated for three Dynamo awards: ‘Innovator of the Year’, ‘New Business of the Year’, and ‘Commercial Project of the Year’. In addition to this, our co-founders Dylan Mckee and Nic Flynn have each been nominated for further awards. Nic has been shortlisted for a further Dynamo Award in the ‘Rising Star’ category and Dylan having been nominated for a Big Chip Award in the ‘Best Mobile Application’ category. It’s fair to say that 2018 promises to be an exciting and rewarding year for Nebula Labs.
