Nebula Labs has been named the second-best mobile app development company in England by Hyperlink InfoSystem. In an article, designed to help prospective clients find the best mobile app development companies to collaborate with in the rapidly expanding industry, Nebula Labs was featured alongside some of the top names in mobile app development such as Komodo, Enigma Interactive and Mkodo. In the article, Hyperlink InfoSystem praised the Nebula Labs team’s ‘amazing performance’ to date and commended their ‘full dedication’ to projects.
Despite only having officially launched in Summer 2017, the article comes as the latest in a long line of praise. Just two months after our official launch, Nebula Labs was nominated for three Dynamo awards: ‘Innovator of the Year’, ‘New Business of the Year’, and ‘Commercial Project of the Year’. In addition to this, our co-founders Dylan Mckee and Nic Flynn have each been nominated for further awards – with Nic having been shortlisted for a further Dynamo Award in the ‘Rising Star’ category and Dylan having been nominated for a Big Chip Award in the ‘Best Mobile Application’ category. Nebula Labs was also named as ‘One to Watch’ in The Journal‘s business section last month alongside seventeen other firms in the region on track for further success in 2018.
Nebula Labs’ plaudits come after an outstanding first year in business. Our expert team have successfully provided innovative solutions to a wide array of problems faced by businesses across different sectors. For example, we created ‘The Parking Fairy’, an app that uses the North East Combined Authority’s Open Data Service to create a propriety bespoke algorithm that magically informs users of the nearest parking space available when they enter Newcastle City Centre. This received national press coverage and the app was even endorsed by the Shadow Minister for Digital Economy. Last year, we also built the Newcastle Scaleup Summit app, which consisted of a full event schedule, social media integration and a ‘heat map’, that highlighted the busiest parts of the event using a combination of background location visits and geofences around venues. The app received widespread positive recognition and was nominated for the prestigious Dynamo North East Dynamite Awards in several categories. On another project, we experimented with artificial intelligence algorithms to predict and detect leakages and energy wastage around council-managed sites for Northumbrian Water. We worked with +ADD Strategy at their Sunderland Software City agile innovation hack to turn this concept into reality, going on to win their hackathon. It’s fair to say Nebula Labs have had a very successful first year in business and we anticipate a bright future ahead for the company.
