How can parents know if their newborn baby needs medical help?

We partnered with the Centre for Process Innovation (CPI) and the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) to developed an Internet of Things (IoT) solution for monitoring the temperature of newborn babies. The solution:

  • allows new parents to quickly and accurately get temperature readings and log them over time so they can monitor their newborn’s temperature quickly and safely
  • uses Near Field Communication (NFC) technology to transfer readings back to a mobile device
  • graphs temperature over time and flags anomalies to parents so that they can raise the issue with the correct urgency, and call an ambulance if required.
