Aiden Forrest
iOS Developer
Apprentice software engineer, lateral thinker, world champion kickboxer and ultra-runner.
Aiden’s journey into software development began at the age of 13, when he built his first mobile app to help local martial arts gyms during the pandemic. The app gave instructors a free class booking system to support track and trace requirements, and sparked a passion for building useful technology that solves real-world problems.
After completing a week of work experience with Nebula Labs in 2022, Aiden joined the team as an apprentice following his high school graduation in 2023. He is currently in the final year of his BSc (Hons) Digital and Technology Solutions Integrated Degree Apprenticeship, combining academic learning with hands-on commercial software engineering.
At Nebula Labs, Aiden works across full-stack development, with skills spanning Python, Django, Swift, SwiftUI, Kotlin and Android development. He has contributed to a wide range of projects including oneXp, Radio Ouseburn, Nexus, Gateshead HAF, WhichEmoji, VirtualMemoryBox, Method Golf and Rainbow Guides. His current work includes leading projects for Nexus, supporting mobile initiatives such as Radio Ouseburn, and developing new features as part of the VMB team.
In 2024, Aiden was selected as one of only 50 Distinguished Winners in Apple’s global Swift Student Challenge for Heartbeat Hero, an interactive and accessible CPR training application. The achievement took him to Apple Park in California, where he demoed his app to Apple CEO Tim Cook. In 2025, Heartbeat Hero also won first place in RevenueCat’s global Shipaton, earning a spot on a giant billboard in Times Square, New York.
Away from the keyboard, Aiden is just as driven. He is a world champion kickboxer and second dan black belt, having trained for over 15 years. More recently, he has taken on the challenge of ultra-running, completing his first ultra-marathon in March 2026.
