We developed a digital solution to store memories safely and securely, in partnership with the social care team at South Tyneside Council, with backing from the Department for Education
- It was co-produced with young people in care, and their social workers and carers
- It was developed with privacy-first approach
- Accessibility is paramount within the platform
- We collaborated extensively with ICT and information governance teams within the council
- It is security tested by 3rd party penetration test
We then scaled out the work undertaken with South Tyneside Council previously and:
- We converted the platform into a multi-instance multi-tenant SaaS product
- Developed tenant-specific features for other councils, such as language translation, initially working with Norfolk County Council
- We worked with Norfolk County Council ICT team to onboard and complete security questionnaires as a SaaS product vendor
- We scaled it successfully into Norfolk County Council and then further to other councils using the same SaaS model
It has now spun out into its own SaaS solution business, Virtual Memory Box Limited.
“Too often children in care can lose special photos and mementos. We are committed to ensuring children understand their life story and can safely access their memories now and in the future. Virtual Memory Box is a fantastic way of doing this.”
Cllr Adam Ellison
